Butler County Supervisors Approve Multiple Bond Resolutions for Infrastructure Projects
ALLISON – The Butler County Board of Supervisors met Oct. 7, 2025, approving several bond resolutions totaling more than $3.8 million for infrastructure and facility projects across the county.
The board held public hearings concerning proposed general obligation bonds following public comment. The projects include paving for the Rolling Prairie Bike Trail, improvements at the Emergency Management and Public Health building, construction of a County Conservation shed, courthouse parking lot and landscaping upgrades, and new Secondary Roads sheds.
A $500,000 urban renewal bond was approved to fund trail paving from Dumont to the Franklin County line, serving as a local match for a $484,500 INRCOG grant. Additional bond approvals included $610,000 for public health and conservation projects, $750,000 for courthouse improvements, and three separate $700,000 bonds for Secondary Roads sheds.
Clarksville resident Larry Backer attended multiple hearings to question and object to the Secondary Roads building projects, expressing concerns about combining shed locations and prioritizing funds toward roads and bridges. The board acknowledged his comments before moving forward with approvals.
Supervisors also adopted Resolution No. 60-2025 to approve electronic bidding procedures and distribution of the preliminary official statement for the bonds, working in conjunction with municipal advisor Speer Financial.
In other business, the board approved moving Jennifer Nichols to full-time status as an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician, accepted quarterly reports from the sheriff, recorder, and auditor, and approved final bridge plans for a Flood Creek replacement project on 120th Street. The county engineer reported progress on Franklin County line bridges and the Dumont T16 paving project, with completion expected around Oct. 20.
