Audrey June (DeBower) Freesemann, 88
Audrey June (DeBower) Freesemann, 88, of Allison passed away peacefully on Monday, October 9, 2023, alongside family members at the Rehabilitation Center of Allison.
A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at the Woodley Funeral Home of Allison. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 13, 2023, at St. James Lutheran Church, 421 N. Main St, Allison with Pastor Rebecca Baird officiating. Burial will follow at Allison Cemetery.
Audrey was born on June 28, 1935, on the family farm, rural Allison to Floyd and Helena (Constein) DeBower. She graduated from Allison High School. Audrey was a life-long member of St. James Lutheran Church and baptized on July 21, 1935 and confirmed on April 2, 1950. On December 17, 1953, she was united in marriage to Henry “Hank” Freesemann at St. James Lutheran Church. To their union, five children were born. Audrey worked for 31 years as a certified nursing assistant for Waverly Municipal Hospital. She was also a farm wife and mother, which she enjoyed.
Audrey was an excellent cook and baker. Her children and grandchildren will fondly remember many desserts and treats she baked for family gatherings. It was impossible to stop at the farm without getting some coffee and pastry or tea and cookies. Audrey loved sending and receiving cards for any and all occasions. Audrey was very kind, caring and compassionate to all she met. Audrey always wanted to find a way to have her family all together. God and her family were of the upmost importance to her, and she will be remembered as a giver who radiated love and happiness.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, son Keith (Sue) Freesemann of Yorba Linda, California, daughter Lois (late Tony) Silver of Dumont, son Craig (Deb) Freesemann of Waverly, son Bruce (Lisa) Freesemann of Altoona, son Larry (Lisa) Freesemann of Columbia, Missouri, grandchildren Max (special friend Sydney) Freesemann, Carissa (Dustin) Otto, Tori (Rob) Redfern, Tonia (special friend Jeff) Silver, Amy (Chad) Timmins, Nate (Melissa) Freesemann, Amber (David) Droessler, Alan (special friend Erica) Freesemann, Andrew Freesemann, Olivia Freesemann, Hallah Freesemann, Lianne (Kyle) Detrick, Lauren Freesemann, Lynn (special friend Stefan) Freesemann, 10 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Margie DeBower, brother-in-law Mel Bohlen, sister-in-law Georgette Bauman, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Marley and Gretchen Freesemann and brother-in-law and sister in-law Jan and Jeanette Franken.
She was preceded in death by her husband Henry “Hank” Freesemann in 2017, parents Floyd and Helena DeBower, parents-in-law Richard and Flossie Freesemann, son-in-law Tony Silver, sister Valda Bohlen, brother Lyle DeBower, brother-in-law Duane Bauman, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Robert and Harriet Freesemann, niece Annette Neilson and nephew Clint Freesemann.
