‘A building to be proud of’: Grand opening held for Clarksville’s City Hall

A grand opening and ribbon cutting was held for Clarksville’s new city hall on Monday, Dec. 30 with delicious treats for all who stopped by. The original cornerstone and newspapers from the previous city hall’s dedication in 1917 were on display.

     As a small crowd looked on, Fred Maifeld of Iowa State Bank ceremonially cut the ribbon held up by Clarksville city council members.

     Mayor Val Swinton welcomed citizens, and thanked Clarksville taxpayers as well as Fred Maifeld and contractor Jeff Hempen for their work on and support of the project.
