William Wix, 72
William Wix, 72, of Allison, passed away Thursday, December 11, 2025, at Unity Point-Allen Hospital, Waterloo. Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Tuesday, December 16, at St. James Lutheran Church, Allison. Interment will be at a later date. Visitation will be 3:00 – 7:00 p.m., Monday at the church. Woodley Funeral Home of Allison is caring for William and his family. Those wishing to share an expression of sympathy may consider a memorial to St. James Lutheran Church in his memory.
William Walter Wix was born February 24, 1953, in Charles City, the only child of William and Fern (Conrad) Wix. He graduated from Allison Bristow High School in 1972. He attended Hawkeye Community College for automotive certification. He worked at the Chevrolet Garage before starting with Culligan Water. After 8 years there, Bill started Wix Water Works in Allison. He owned and operated this from 1989 until 2016, when his son, Robert, bought the business.
Bill was a lifelong member of St. James Lutheran Church and served in many positions including head usher, music committee, choir, church council and other rolls. He was active in his community by serving many years on the Allison Fire Department, the Lion’s club and city council. He also was a member of the Mason City Barbershop Choir. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, grilling and smoking meat and cooking. He grew up with horses and in later years had miniature donkeys and horses as well. Special times were spent with his family and friends. Bill was incredibly proud of all 5 of his grandchildren.
Bill is survived by his wife of 49 years, Connie; daughter: Bethani (Jason) Shaull, Allison; son: Robert (Kristen) Wix, Allison; grandchildren: Abbie (Nathan) Tiedemann; Brooklyn (Ethan Litterer) Wix; Colby Wix; Eden Wix and Owen Shaull; friends and relatives.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
