Vernon Rindels, 91

Vernon Rindels, 91, of Bristow, passed away on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at the Rehabilitation Center of Allison. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 6, 2023 at the Sietsema-Atkinson Funeral Home in Hampton with burial in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Bristow. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 5 at the Sietsema-Atkinson Funeral Home in Hampton. Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of the Sietsema-Atkinson Funeral Home in Hampton. 

Vernon Rindels was born July 15, 1931 in Grundy County near Buck Grove to Richard and Anna Weichers Rindels. He attended school in Bristow graduating in the class of 1949. He served in the Army from 1952 to 1954.

He was united in marriage to Mary Jo Carlin October 18, 1956 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. To this union they raised four children. He sold seed corn for many different companies of the years. During their years of marriage, he and his wife owned and operated 2 cafés.

In his younger years he played fast pitch men’s softball. He had a love for all sports and was a St. Louis Cardinals fan. He would gladly brag about the grandkids and the sports they played to anyone he happened to meet.

He is survived by his four children, Vicky and Kevin Reints of Allison, Deb Jacobs and Brett Weichers of Aplington, Janet and Wayne Pecha of Dumont, Brad and Cheri Rindels of Bristow. Brother in laws Shellon Kroeze of Denver, Gary and Sharon Carr of Des Moines. eleven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephew and cousins.

He is preceeded in death by his wife in June 2021, his parents, his wife’s parents, two brothers and two sisters, a niece, and a nephew.
