Stanley Roy Stirling, 71

Stanley Roy Stirling, age 71, was born the son of Dorothy Youngberg and Dallas Stirling on September 20th, 1952. He attended school in Clarksville, where he married his high school sweetheart, Debra Jo Ackerman on August 8,1970. Stan and Deb raised their three sons, Steve, David, and Matt, in the house they built outside of Clarksville. 

Stan was known to be a hard working man. He worked for Bantam/Koehring for 20 years. Stan fulfilled his dream of becoming a dairy farmer in 1990. He also did custom round baling for area farmers. To local kids, he was known as the Suckerman, because he always carried suckers in his pocket for them. The couple dairy-farmed for over 25 years before retiring in 2017.

 Stan loved dairy farming, telling stories about the barn and cows any chance he got. 

He enjoyed fishing on the river, visiting with friends, and cruising around gravel roads in his truck. Stan loved his children and grandchildren very much and enjoyed attending their events. As his sons grew up, he grew passionate about wrestling and was always present on the sidelines during their matches. Stan was a loving grandfather, and loved saying anything and everything to make his grandchildren giggle.

Stan passed away peacefully in his home on December 1st, 2023. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Jerry Stirling and brothers-in-law Jeff Sherburne and Dave Johnson. 

          He is survived by children Steve (Jenny) Stirling, David Stirling (Amber Grose), Matt (Stacy) Stirling; six grandchildren Wes Swygman, Cody (Alyssa) Stirling, Emilie (Caleb) Ciavarelli, Madison and Katie Stirling, and Finn Schultz; five great-grandchildren Mila Swygman, Hayden and Royce Ciavarelli, and Charlotte and Tate Stirling; brothers Ted (Marlene) Stirling, Abe (LaNeysa) Stirling; sisters Vicki Johnson, Kim Sherburne, and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to the family.
