Robert Freesemann

Robert L. Freesemann, 85, of Allison, passed away Thursday, July 21, 2022, at MercyOne North Iowa Hospice in Mason City.

Visitation was held from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., Sunday, July 24, 2022, at Counsell Woodley Funeral Home in Allison. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 25, 2022, at Trinity Reformed Church in Allison. Burial will take place in the Allison Cemetery. Counsell Woodley Funeral Home of Allison is caring for Robert and his family.

Robert was born August 22, 1936, to Richard and Flossie (Johnson) Freesemann. He graduated from Allison High School, class of 1954. On August 1, 1956, Robert was united in marriage to Harriet M. Heyenga in Allison. To this union, five children were born.

Robert was lineman and crew chief for Butler County REC for 38.5 years. He enjoyed working; whether it be his full-time position at REC, a farm hand for local farmers during harvest or mowing for the City of Allison after his retirement, Robert always kept busy. His favorite pastime was putting together jigsaw puzzles. Robert was a member of Trinity Reformed Church in Allison.

In February of 1979, Robert committed himself to sobriety. He and his family have celebrated his achievement with cards, cakes and words of encouragement and gratitude for the past 43 years.

Robert is survived by his son Grant (LeAnne) Freesemann of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; son Clark (Shayne) Freesemann of Greene; daughter Ranae (Matt) Boomgarden of Gulfport, Mississippi; son Collin (Tina) Freesemann of Greene; daughter-in-law Tara Freesemann of Hampton; sisters Georgette Bauman and Jeanette (Jan) Franken; brother Marley (Gretchen) Freesemann; ten grandchildren; several great grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Harriet Freesemann, son Clint Freesemann and brother Hank Freesemann.
