Reua Dell Poland

Reua Dell Poland, age 91, of Clarksville, Iowa was born the daughter of Miller Clair and Alice Louella (Shafer) Rhoads on December 14, 1929 in Waverly, Iowa. She received her education from the Clarksville High School and graduated in 1947.

On August 17, 1947, Dell was united in marriage with Walter Richard “Dick” Poland at Community United Methodist Church in Clarksville. The couple made their home in Clarksville until they moved to Hansell, Iowa in 1954. In 1963, Dell and Dick then moved back to Clarksville, in part so that Dell could be closer to take care of her mother until she passed away in 1983.
Dell was a faithful member of Community United Methodist Church where she was most active in her younger years. She was also a very active member of the local Bridge Club and Eastern Star where she held the office of Worthy Matron.

In her spare time, she enjoyed collecting antiques and collectibles, refurbishing old furniture, and watching television shows. Especially ones that made her laugh like, All in the Family, The Golden Girls, and M*A*S*H. The Rhoads family reunions held on Memorial Day Weekend were also a very special time for Dell. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time and talking with family and friends, whether that was in person or over the phone.
Dell passed away on Sunday, November 28, 2021, at the Waverly Health Center in Waverly, of natural causes. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Dick Poland (April 6, 2004); one son, Todd Poland (October 28, 2015); her parents; three brothers, Raymond Rhoads, M. Reid Rhoads, and Richard Rhoads; one sister Geraldine French; three sisters-in-law, LaVonne Rhoads, Eleanor Rhoads, and Arlene Poland De Foor; three brothers-in-law, Joseph French, Lloyd Poland, and Cliffard Poland; and one great-grandchild, Madisyn Ensign.

Dell is survived by her four sons, Tom Poland of Clarksville, Barry Poland of Clarksville, Jed (Paulette) Poland of Cedar Falls, IA, and Jon Poland of St. Louis Park, MN; one daughter-in-law; Teresa Poland of Clarksville; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Poland of Rockwell, IA; seven grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews including: Jane Ibsen, Peg Lilly, and Steve Rhoads.
