Renee Hansen, 71

Renee Hansen, 71, of Hampton, passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at Methodist Mayo Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota, surrounded by her loving husband and family. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 19, 2025, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hampton with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hampton. Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of the Sietsema-Atkinson Funeral Home of Hampton.
Renee was born on December 14, 1953, at Saint Joseph’s Mercy Hospital to Joy (Nielsen) and John Andersen. She grew up in St. Ansgar, Iowa, alongside four sisters and one brother. The sisters were known as “Joy‘s Girls.” Fashionable from the beginning, after graduating from St. Ansgar High School in 1972, she pursued a career in Fashion Merchandising at Hamilton Business College in Mason City, Iowa, a natural fit for someone who grew up sewing her own clothes. It was in Mason City also that Renee met the love of her life, Larry. The two were married on August 10, 1974, at First Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar, Iowa. Shortly thereafter, she moved to the farm, where Renee embraced a new and meaningful calling as a farmer’s wife. She served endless meals in the fields during the busy seasons, completed countless hours of farming bookwork, and was never afraid to step in wherever she was needed.
Renee loved spending time in Marco Island, Florida, with her husband and family, and snowmobiling through the mountains in West Yellowstone for over 40 years. She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hampton, serving on several committees and contributing her time and talents to the life of the church.
She found happiness in simple, meaningful moments—strolls down the gravel road, walks on the beach, and enjoying coffee in the morning. She loved crafting with her sisters on Sister Day, cooking, and sewing with her grandchildren. Renee’s children were never surprised by the mischief she and the grandkids got into at the farm.
Above all, Renee treasured her grandchildren. Nothing brought her more joy than watching them play sports, traveling to spend weekends with them, and making memories together. To her grandchildren, there was nothing better than time spent with Grandma at the farm.
Renee was the most loving and selfless person. No matter what she was doing, she would drop everything to be there for the people she loved. Her children often joked, “Never tell Mom you need something—because she will have it for you the next day.” Giving came naturally to her, and she found joy in meeting the needs of those she loved. Her life reflected a servant’s heart, lived faithfully and generously, leaving behind a legacy of love that will continue through her family for generations.
She is survived by her husband Larry, with whom she shared 51 years of marriage; three children: Troy (Sarah) Hansen of Hampton, Nate (Ginger) Hansen of Hampton, and Dana (Clayton) Crutchfield of Bentonville, AR. Her grandchildren: Hudson, Lincoln, Noel, Cooper, Molly Joy, Vivian, Carson, and Carver. Her loving sisters and brother: Vickie (Don) Voorhees of Hudson, WI; Penny (Don) Pederson of Garner, IA; Jill (Marv) Pederson of Stacyville, IA; Jonnie (Ken) Olsen of Melbourne, IA; and Daren (Christine) Bulow of Casper, WY. Her sister-in-law’s Patty Voy, Eileen Murry, and Norma Caruth. Renee is also survived by many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and a broad circle of friends, all of whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Joy Andersen, and her stepfather, Helge Bulow.
