Nancy Ann (Eckhoff) Amunson

Nancy Ann (Eckhoff) Amunson was born the daughter of Harry and Lucille (Wubbena) Eckhoff on August 15, 1949, in Waterloo, Iowa. Nancy was raised on the family farm south of Allison and attended Allison-Bristow High School graduating in 1967. Upon graduation, she worked at Shield Bantam in Waverly, Iowa, until March of 1968. Nancy made her career in banking for 44 years at the Bank in Allison, Iowa.
Nancy married Dale Amunson in 1975, at St. James Lutheran Church in Allison, and moved to Clarksville, Iowa, following her marriage. To this union their son, Erik, was born in 1981. A highlight of her life was Erik’s marriage to Angela Meyer of Wayland, Iowa, and subsequently the birth of grandchildren, Alexa and Ryker Amunson of Swisher, Iowa. Nancy was very active in her grandchildren’s lives. She enjoyed attending their school and church activities and would go out of her way to spend time with them. Nancy and Dale spent many weeks at their cottage on Lake Cornelia by Belmond, Iowa, having first boated there in the early 1990’s, and later purchasing property there. Nancy and Dale also enjoyed going to Ft. Myers Beach, Florida, and later to Orange Beach, Alabama, in the winter and made several friends there.
Nancy was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Clarksville and was a member of the Altar Guild and co-chair of the funeral kitchen committee for many years. Nancy and Dale developed many close friendships over the years including Card Club and just getting together for impromptu Coffee & Social Hours. This included friends from Clarksville, Belmond, and Florida/Alabama vacations.
Nancy passed from this Earth on Friday, February 27, 2026, and leaves behind the memories of many good times in many places. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents, and one brother, James Eckhoff.
Nancy is survived by her: husband Dale; son, Erik (Angela) Amunson; two grandchildren, Alexa and Ryker Amunson; four siblings, Cheryl (Jerry) Manning, Richard (Barb) Eckhoff, Tom (Chris) Eckhoff, and Jolene Orser; a sister-in-law, Wanita Eckhoff; along with many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services were held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at the St. John Lutheran Church in Clarksville, with Pastor Charles Underwood officiating. With special music by Alexa Amunson,“What A Friend We Have In Jesus”, accompanied by Sharon Lerhoff and Dean Uhlenhopp, “the Lord’s Prayers. The congregation sang, “Amazing Grace”. The burial was held at Allison Municipal Cemetery, Allison, with Kirk Eckhoff, Mike Eckhoff, Robert Harms, Cody Jensen, Alan Jensen, and Brian Meyer serving as Casketbearers. Honorary Casketbearers were Dana Uhlenhopp, Richard Eckhoff, Tom Eckhoff, Jerry Manning, and Glenn Whiteside.
Visitation was held Monday, March 2, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Redman Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Clarksville and one hour prior to services at the church. Memorials may be directed to St. John Lutheran Church, or Clarksville P.E.O.
