Jeannette Snyder, 66, of Bristow, passed away Friday, January 30, 2026, at her home. Woodley Funeral Home of Dumont is caring for Jeanette and her family.
Jeannette (Jeannie to most) Kay Snyder was born August 19, 1959 in Charles City, to Edwin and Donna (Winkowitsch) Ostendorf. She graduated from Allison Bristow High School in 1978. During high school Jeannie was active in 4-H, enjoyed showing hogs, and was awarded Butler County pork queen. Following high school; Jeannie went on to earn a Medical Assistant certification at NIACC.
On June 26, 1982 Jeannie was united in marriage with Kevin Snyder at the First Reformed Church, Bristow.
Jeannie worked at the Greene Clinic for 43 years until retiring in 2024. After retirement Jeannie was looking forward to traveling and continuing mission work. She was a lifelong member of the First Reformed Church in Bristow where she taught Sunday School and directed Christmas Programs. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and helping those in need, but really enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed volunteering with Cursillo, Teen Challenge, and mission work.
Jeannie is survived by her husband of 43 years, Kevin, her son Jeremiah (Britney) Snyder of Van Meter, daughter Miranda (Erik) Swan of Lonsdale (MN) and grandkids Alaina, Korbin Snyder and Kaylee, Mylah Swan. Along with her sister Nancy (Jeff Hannel) of Mackinaw (IL) and Brother Eugene (Carla) Ostendorf of Allison and many nephews and nieces. Jeannie was proceeded in death by her parents, Edwin and Donna Ostendorf, brother Little Eddy Ostendorf, parent in-laws Robert and Wanda Snyder, brother in law George Smith, niece Kassidy Ostendorf and nephew Levi Ostendorf.
Funeral services will be 10:30 am, Thursday, February 5, at the Northeast Iowa Christian Service Camp, rural Dumont. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 3:00 - 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, at First Reformed Church, Bristow.
In lieu of flowers; the family requests donations be made to them that will be distributed to Christian Camps, Churches, and Youth Organizations.
