Greene man evacuated by MercyOne helicopter after motorcycle crash
PLAINFIELD – James Cummings, a 34 year old Greene man, was involved in a motorcycle accident on Friday, June 14 around 3:20 p.m. and was evacuated via helicopter due to injuries.
Cummings, who was on a motorcycle, sustained a personal injury and was transported to Allen Hospital from the scene via the MercyOne Air Med helicopter. Patrick Lentz, a 46 year old Plainfield man, was also involved in the accident. Lentz was driving a pickup truck when he collided with Cummings at the intersection of Highway 188 and Yale Ave.
The Iowa State Patrol stated in its accident report that Lentz (who was westbound on Highway 188) was cited for failing to obey the stop sign and yield right-of-way. Cummings was on Yale Ave making an eastbound turn onto Highway 188 when he collided with Lentz’s vehicle. Cummings, who was wearing a helmet, was ejected from his motorcycle and sustained personal injuries.
Units on scene included the Butler County Sheriff, Clarksville ambulance, Waverly paramedics, Plainfield first responders, Plainfield Fire Department, and the MercyOne Air Med.
