Gordon Brocka

Gordon Brocka, 81, of Aredale, Iowa, passed away Monday, January 31, 2022, at John C. Lincoln Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona.

Gordon Harry Brocka was born on February 5, 1940, in rural Allison, to Harry and Engelena (Wessels) Brocka. He graduated from Hansell High School. Gordon met Marietta Emhoff in high school and they were married on July 19, 1958, in Aredale.

In his younger years, Gordon enjoyed playing pool in local tournaments. He also loved playing his guitar. Throughout his life he also enjoyed fishing, golfing, playing cards, dancing, and traveling.

Gordon lived and worked in the Aredale area his entire life. He worked for Cessford Construction before owning and operating Brocka, Inc., specializing in farm tiling. Gordon enjoyed his business and worked until his passing.

Gordon was a Gideon, a lay minister and a member of New Hope United Methodist Church – Aredale Center.

Gordon was a hardworking man, full of forgiveness, patience and unconditional love for his family. He will be missed dearly and has left behind his daughter, Teresa (Dan) Peterson; son, Stacy (Cami) Brocka; grandson Todd (Amber) Peterson and children Taylor, Brooklyn, James and Cash; grandson Jesse (Katie) Peterson and children Braydon, Annika and Jace; granddaughter Lisa (Bryan) Heilskov and children Issac, Carter, Sean and Ellie; granddaughter Anna (Adam) Kampman and children Harper and Graham; granddaughter Ashley (Chris) Bangs and children Lane, Levi, Lily and Leta; grandson Nicholas Brocka; granddaughter Olivia Brocka; and granddaughter Sadie Brocka. Also left behind are Gordon's siblings, Gaylen (Betty) Brocka, Valoy Eilers, Venita (Gary) Reiners, and Greg (Eugenia) Brocka; special friend, Charlene Hanson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Preceding Gordon in death were his parents Harry and Engelena, wife Marietta, son Todd, daughter Engela, and brother-in-law Moe Eilers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to your local food pantry.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, February 14, 2022, at New Hope United Methodist Church – Aredale Center, followed by burial in the Dumont Cemetery.  Visitation was held from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, February 13, 2022, at Counsell Woodley Funeral Home in Dumont.
