Genny Sue Jacobsen, 48

Genny Sue Jacobsen, age 48, of Tripoli, Iowa, was born the daughter of James Juhl and Beverly Jean (Freerks) Jacobsen, on May 9, 1976, in Waverly, Iowa.  She graduated from Clarksville High School in 1994.  Genny joined the United States Navy in 1994 and served as a dental assistant for one year.  After her honorable discharge, Genny lived in Virginia.  She later moved back to the Clarksville area.  

Genny worked in production at Rada Cutlery in Waverly, where she met many lifelong friends, including Amy and Becky.  Genny then worked at Waverly Health Center before deciding to attend Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo, where she received her Licensed Practical Nursing degree.  After her graduation, Genny worked as a nurse at many long-term care facilities and later with Cedar Valley Hospice.

Genny enjoyed going thrifting, spending time in her flower garden and working on DIY projects.  She loved dogs and going to truck and tractor pulls.  Genny had a big personality with a big heart and was always caring for others.   

Genny died on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at her home in Tripoli.  Genny was preceded in death by her father, James Jacobsen; and an uncle, Herb Freerks.

Genny is survived by two daughters, Sadie (Alix Blickenderfer) Jacobsen of Charles City, Iowa, and Aliyah (Ian) Johnson of Nashua, Iowa; one grandson, Ridge Johnson; her mother, Beverly Jacobsen of Clarksville; four siblings, Lynn (Neil Folkerts) Nelson of Waverly, Tad (Susan) Jacobsen of Clarksville, Betsy Schmitt of Charles City, and Mike (Briana) Jacobsen of Penobscot, Maine; many nieces and nephews; and many great- nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 5:00 p.m., Friday, January 31, 2025, at The Family Shed at 421 W. Greene Street in Clarksville, Iowa.
