Donald Kent Jenison

Donald Kent Jenison, age 68, of Clarksville, Iowa, was born the son of Donald Oscar and Veda Alice (Curtis) Jenison on April 28, 1952, in Charles City, Iowa.  He was confirmed and baptized at Community United Methodist Church in Clarksville.  Kent graduated from Clarksville High School in 1970.

On September 10, 1971, Kent was united in marriage with Anna Lee Gregory at Community United Methodist Church in Clarksville.  After their marriage, the couple lived in the Clarksville area.  Kent worked with his father in farming until 1986.  Through the years, he also worked at Power Pro in Greene, Iowa, Eaton’s in Belmond, Iowa, Hobson Brothers in Shell Rock, Iowa, and American Tool & Die in Greene.

Kent was an active member of Community United Methodist Church.  He was a mentor, taught Sunday School, was on the church board, in SPRC Committee, and filled in as liturgist.  Kent enjoyed farming, metal work, flea markets and a girl’s day. He restored Massey-Harris Tractors and collected Clarksville memorabilia. Kent loved his dog, Elsa and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

            On Thursday, October 1, 2020, Kent died at Mercy One – Covenant Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa.  Kent was greeted in Heaven by his parents, Donald and Veda Jenison; his grandma Curtis and a nephew, Tony Jenison.

            Kent is survived by his wife of 49 years, Anna Lee Jenison; three children, Andrea (Adam) Popham of Allison, Iowa, Michael (Kim) Jenison of Plainfield, Iowa, and Laura (Bill) Wallin of Clarksville, 10 grandchildren, Lauren Popham, Skyler (Miranda Vance) Popham, Makenna (Brandon French) Popham, Reyna (Nick Diggins) Jenison, Wiley Jenison, Bridget (Chase Capper) Ross, Chloe (Ben Waetjens) Ross, Rex Ross. Isabelle Wallin, Evelyn Wallin, one great granddaughter, Harper; one brother, Ronald Jenison of New Mexico; one sister, Linda (Larry) Boevers of Brandenton, Florida; and many nieces and nephews.

            A private memorial service was held at 1:00 p.m., on Thursday, October 8, 2020, at Community United Methodist Church in Clarksville.  Pastors Joan Thomas and Dan Fernadez officiated the service.  Organist was Sharon Leerhoff and she accompanied the congregation as they sang “Eagles Wings” and “Hark The Herald Angels”.  Burial was held at Lynwood Cemetery in Clarksville.

            Visitation was held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., on Wednesday at the Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home in Clarksville, and one hour before services at the church.  Memorials may be directed to the family to purchase defibrillators for the community.  Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home in Clarksville was in charge of arrangements.  Online condolences may be left at www.redman-schwartz.com
