Donald Allen Radloff, 76

Donald Allen Radloff, 76, of Clarksville, Iowa, passed away on Friday, November 24, 2023, at his home in Clarksville.

 

Don was born on December 4, 1946, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Donald Albert and Normagene Lydia (Schnathorst) Radloff. He graduated from Elgin High School in Elgin, IL. and later received his degree in Police Science through Hawkeye Community College. He served in the United States Air Force until he was honorably discharged in November of 1966. He was united in marriage to Galena “Gale” Lou Ferrell on December 23, 1968, in Elgin, Illinois.

 

He served as a Black Hawk County Deputy Sheriff and Police Chief of Tripoli. He retired from John Deere after a work accident.

 

Don loved spending time with his grandkids and great grandkids, also enjoyed hunting, fishing, rebuilding trucks, and raising dogs. He was very active with the Boy Scouts, serving in many roles throughout the years. He was a 50-year member of the Free Masons in which he became Grand Commander, then proceeded as High Priest in Yorkrite, then he went on to become an instructor.

 

Don is survived by his wife, Gale Radloff of Clarksville; a daughter, Lena Eggers of Waterloo; a son, Bruce (Angela) Radloff of Shell Rock and a daughter, Candice Cornwell of Clarksville; eleven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; a brother, Rick Radloff, a sister, Tammi (Bill) Kramer and a sister, Cheryl Kirk all of Elgin, Illinois. He is also survived his near and dear friends, Jared Brunner and Keith Vance along with his Beagle dog Jessie.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Valerie Brunner; two grandsons, Benjamin Klinghammer and Rudy Eggers; two brothers, Keith Radloff and Kevin Radloff; a brother-in-law, Ray Kirk and a sister-in-law, Ruth Radloff.

 

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Shell Rock where there will be a 7:00 p.m. Masonic Service. A funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 30, 2023, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Lynwood Cemetery in Clarksville with military rites at the grave conducted by the Clarksville AMVETS Post #30 and the American Legion Post #660 of New Hartford.
