David “Dave” Wayne Campbell, 64

David “Dave” Wayne Campbell, 64, of Clarksville, IA, passed away Sunday, June 18, 2023 at the Allen Hospital under hospice care in Waterloo, IA. 

Dave was born on November 24, 1958, in Marshalltown, IA, the son of C. Keith and Alice (Barber) Campbell. He was the second of four boys in his family.

He grew up in Toledo, IA, and attended South Tama Schools, Class of 1977.

Dave worked as an over the road truck driver for years and later would share stories from “Back when I was trucking” and the listener of the story knew they were in for a treat of a tale from his past. Dave later worked for Clapsaddle-Garber Assoc., Inc. and the Iowa DOT. Dave’s passions were riding his Harley-Davidson, the Iowa Hawkeyes (especially during football season), the Green Bay Packers and vacationing in Jamaica. He enjoyed spending time with his longtime partner, Sis Henning, and her grandkids whom he adored and they adored their Papa. Dave especially loved the Christmas season with them and would call every time his favorite classic Christmas cartoons (Charlie Brown) were on TV so the grandkids would tune in to watch them.

Dave rarely met a stranger and will be remembered for his kindness and light sense of humor. At the end of his life, even the nurses and physicians took a liking to Dave’s charm and would check in frequently just to chat with him.

Dave is survived by his longtime companion, Sis Henning and her children and grandchildren. He is also survived by a daughter, Maja Campbell of North Liberty and son, David Jr. Campbell of Cedar Rapids; two brothers, Dennis (Debra) Campbell of Marshalltown, and Bruce "Bubba" (Angel) Campbell of Marshalltown; nieces Cassandra “Cassie” Campbell of Marshalltown and Darrah Campbell and Lisa Campbell of Tama.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents and his older brother, Sam Campbell.

A Celebration of Life is planned for Saturday, July 22^nd at Doc’s Tap in Clarksville, Iowa at 2 PM.
