Darwin Dralle

Darwin Wayne Dralle, 85, of Greene, passed away Friday, Aug. 9, 2024, at the Rehabilitation Center of Allison. Visitation was set for 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 13, at Woodley Funeral Home in Greene with funeral services at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 14, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church – Vilmar in rural Greene.  Darwin will be laid to rest at the Vilmar Cemetery. Woodley Funeral Home of Greene is caring for Darwin and his family.

Darwin was born Jan. 29, 1939, near Bristow, son of Paul and Dorothy (Fick) Dralle. He attended country school at Coldwater Township #5 and then graduated from Greene High School. Darwin furthered his education for one year at Gates College in Waterloo.

In 1966, Darwin was united in marriage to Shirley Frahm. To this union, two wonderful sons were born: Wayne and Randy. This marriage ended in divorce in 1981. Darwin was in the cattle business for over 50 years. He started buying cattle when he was 20 years old and shipped dairy cattle all over the country until age 65. He traveled extensively while being in that business and met many friends along the way.

Darwin was a lifelong member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church – Vilmar in rural Greene. He was a 23-year board member of the Waverly Saddle Club and was also on the board of The Dairy Spot Trailriders. Darwin enjoyed dancing, family vacations and his daily cup of joe with his neighbors at the coffee shop in Greene.

Darwin is survived by his sons Wayne (Darla) Dralle of Bristow and Randy Dralle of Charles City; granddaughters Amanda (CJ) Inglebret of Grand Meadow, Minnesota and Katee Dralle of Greene; great-grandchildren Emmerson, Lillian and Greyson Inglebret; brother Dean (Doris) Dralle of Clarksville; stepbrothers Ron (Pat) Barr of Dubuque and Don Barr of California; along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Dorothy Dralle; stepmother Minerva Dralle; stepbrother Joe Barr; and special friend Judy.
