Darrell Frederick Aissen, 78

Darrell Frederick Aissen, age 78, of Clarksville, Iowa, was born the son of Dick and Clara (Poppen) Aissen on November 7, 1946, in Waverly, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at St. James Lutheran Church in Allison, Iowa. Darrell received his education and graduated from Allison High School in 1964. He served in the United States Army from 1966 – 1968 at Fort Hood, Texas.
On July 20, 1968, Darrell was united in marriage with Mary Jane Satory at St. John Lutheran Church in Clarksville. They made their home in Clarksville where they continue to live. Darrell worked at Schield Bantam, later known as Terex Crane in Waverly, Iowa. He worked for the company for 38 years, retiring in 2006. He was grateful for a second chance at life in 1993 as a heart transplant recipient.
Darrell was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Allison, Iowa. He enjoyed reading Westerns and old cars. In his earlier years they enjoyed going to tractor pulls and attending their children’s activities. Much of his retired life he enjoyed putting around in the yard and attending his grandchildren’s events.
Darrell passed away on Friday, October 17, 2025, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa, from natural causes. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dick and Clara Aissen, a brother, Dennis Aissen, a sister-in-law, Connie Aissen, and a nephew, Richard Aissen.
Darrell is survived by his loving wife, Mary of 56 years; two sons, Darin (Victoria) Aissen of Waverly, and Mike (Mary) Aissen of Clarksville; six grandchildren, Kali (Matthew) Close, Garrett Aissen, Kelby Aissen, James Aissen, Erin Aissen, and Katelynn Aissen; and nieces and a nephew.
A public visitation was held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at the Redman Funeral & Cremation Services in Clarksville. James Aissen shared special music at the visitation.
A private graveside service was held on Thursday at Lynwood Cemetery in Clarksville. Pastor Jim Lee of Grace Baptist Church in Waverly conducted the service. Memorials may be directed to the family and online condolences may be left at www.redmanfuneral.com
