Bruce Henry Johnson, 75

Bruce Henry Johnson, 75, of Greene, passed away Saturday, September 7, 2024, at the Rehabilitation Center of Allison. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at Woodley Funeral Home in Greene. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, September 12, 2024, at St. John's Lutheran Church - Vilmar in rural Greene. Burial will take place at a later date at Rose Hill Cemetery in Greene. Woodley Funeral Home and Crematory of Greene is caring for Bruce and his family.

Bruce was born May 7, 1949, in Greene, son of John and Erma (Kollman) Johnson. He graduated from Greene High School and then enlisted into the United State Air Force, serving from 1969-1973 in Thailand during the Vietnam War. On August 18, 1984, Bruce was united in marriage to Debra Thorsten at St. John’s Lutheran Church – Vilmar in rural Greene.

Bruce was a farmer in the Greene area. He attended many farm and cattle sales over the years at the Decorah Sale Barn and never missed one at the Waverly Sale Barn. Bruce was a member at St. John’s Lutheran Church – Vilmar and volunteered at the Butler County Fair for several years.

Bruce attended numerous NASCAR and stock car races with his buddies. He enjoyed watching the local tractor rides and tractor pulls. Bruce also enjoyed fishing, spending time with “the guys” and spending time with his nieces when they came to visit.

Bruce is survived by his wife Debra Johnson of Greene; stepdaughter Amie (Ron) Dixon of Nebraska; stepson Dan (Kay) Williams of Arizona; great friends Darwin (Eileen) Kluiter of Clarksville and Jason Kluiter of Clarksville; along with nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.
