Ardith A. Fox, 93

Ardith A. Fox, 93, of Waverly, Iowa, died Saturday, November 18, 2022, at the Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community in Waverly.  

Ardith was born on March 16, 1929, in Bristow, Iowa, the daughter of William and Ethel (Walsh) McNeilus.  She was baptized and confirmed at Church of Christ Church in Bristow. Ardith graduated from Bristow High School and then attended Luther College in Decorah. She obtained her teaching degree from the Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. After her schooling, she taught country school in rural Waverly for five years.  

Ardith was united in marriage to Orville Fox on August 18, 1950, at the United Methodist Parsonage in Mason City, Iowa.  The couple made their home in Waverly and in 1951 Orville started Waverly Tire Company. Ardith joined Orville a few years later where she helped with the business and took care of the books. She always enjoyed working with her family and visiting with customers. Orville passed away on October 22, 2017.  

Ardith enjoyed playing cards, especially Bridge. She loved watching and feeding the birds. Over the years, she was avid collector of hat pins. She especially loved visits from her great grandchildren.          

Ardith is survived by two sons, Kim D. Fox of Janesville and Kendall D. (Kim M.) Fox of Waverly; two grandchildren, Amanda (Tyson) Keith of Waverly and Matthew (Danielle) Fox of Waverly; six great-grandchildren, Harper, Liam, and Madeline Keith and Delilah, Josephine and Jameson Fox; a sister, Aleece Beadle of Bristow; and a sister-in-law, Faythe Fox of Allison.,  

Ardith was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Orville; two sisters, Gladys McNeilus and Laura Olson; and three brothers, Archie, Jim and Floyd McNeilus.     

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and School in Waverly in Pastor Patricia Shaw officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the church. Burial will be held in Harlington Cemetery in Waverly.  Memorials may be directed to St. Paul’s Lutheran School and online condolences may be left at www.kaisercorson.com.
