Aredale Day celebrated

Saturday, Sept. 7 was a happy day in Aredale, as the community celebrated Aredale Day for the first time in five years.

“Quite a bit of work went into it, but it was worth it,” said Mayor Rodney McKinney.

Festivities kicked off with a bean bag tournament at 10 a.m. that saw about 16 people competing.

While a little rain dampened the afternoon, many enjoyed delicious smoothies, and there was a good turnout as firemen served hamburgers, baked beans and sweet corn at the fire station in the evening.
