ALLISON – The Allison City Council addressed park maintenance, snow removal, financial transfers, and winter safety matters during its meeting last Monday, with several decisions aimed at preparing the city for the year ahead.

Council members reviewed bids for mowing services at Wilder Park for the 2026 season. Three proposals were submitted, and after discussion and consideration of the Park Board’s recommendation, the council awarded the contract to GreenBelt Seeding for $22,000.

Snow removal for the upcoming winter season was also addressed. The remaining bid, submitted by Stirling Lawn Care, was approved at a rate of $160 per push, with one abstention.

Allison Public Library requested donations for refreshments for an upcoming bingo event, which the board approved.

Several financial actions were taken to clear existing fund balances. The council approved the transfer of $434,487.12 from the 2015 Lagoon Project fund to the Capital Projects for the Lagoon fund. A second resolution authorized the transfer of $900 from the local option sales tax fund to the streets repair fund.

Winter conditions and sidewalk safety prompted further discussion. Council members reviewed the city’s sidewalk snow removal ordinance, which requires property owners to clear sidewalks within 48 hours of snowfall. To improve compliance, the council directed that copies of the ordinance and winter reminders be mailed to all residents. Plans were also discussed to ensure sidewalks are cleared and billed to property owners when necessary.

Additional updates included progress on resolving issues with the city’s utility billing systems, recent watershed pipe repairs, and the need to budget for future maintenance. City staff also announced plans to mail utility account update forms alongside winter reminders. Housing inspection costs and ongoing abatement efforts for two properties in town were reviewed as well.
