William “Bill” George Henning, 90

William “Bill” George Henning, 90, of Waverly, Iowa, passed away Tuesday night, July 1, 2025, at his home.
Bill was born on July 23, 1934, on the family farm near Greene, Iowa, the eighth son of Charles and Kate Henning. He graduated from Janesville High School in 1952. On October 25, 1954 he married Jean Bruns. They had three daughters, Kim (Stan) Reynolds, Tammy (Scott) McKenzie, and Jennifer (Jamie) Eick. After spending four years in the U.S. Air Force, Bill went to work for the Carnation (now Nestle) Co. for fifteen years. In 1966, Bill and Jean purchased the Macy’s Variety in Clarksville. Later he and his friend and partner, Russell Westmeyer, opened the 2 Guys Home Interiors Carpet and Furniture Store in Waverly. Years later, Bill and Jean also owned and operated a ServiceMaster business. Bill and his good friend, Gene Droste, organized the Country Blue Boys dance band, enjoying many years of entertaining throughout Iowa. He served on the board at Sunnyside Temple where he and his wife were members for several years.
Bill’s survivors include his wife and three daughters; four grandchildren, Nicole Honeycutt, Corbin Reynolds, Cara Shanks and Jentry Eick (fiancé Jerry Glenn); nine great-grandchildren, Christian, Noah, Nicholas, Nash, Kane and Caleb Honeycutt, and Lennon, Bodi and Archer Shanks; and a sister, Ann George. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Kate; brothers, John, George, Adolph, Andrew, Charlie, Rudy and Harold; and sisters, Jennie Henning, Alice Lundberg and Elizabeth Wedeking.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday July 7, 2025, at Peace United Church of Christ with Pastor Jon Hennings presiding. Burial will follow in Lyn-Wood Cemetery, Clarksville, with military rites provided by Clarksville Amvets Post #30. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice and online condolences may be left at www.kaisercorson.com. Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly is assisting Bill’s family. 319-352-1187
