Wrestling family tradition continues

GREENE – Cole Negen has a reputation to live up to.
The Clarksville sophomore for the North Butler-Clarksville wrestling team, whose first cousins Tim Negen and Bryce Jacobs have been among the standard for wrestling in the area and his family tree, earned a key win during the Bearcats’ quadrangular sweep in a close 37-36 win over Belmond-Klemme to cap the 3-0 night.
Coach Gordy Smith called his win by fall in 3 minutes, 59 seconds over Jaden Warren at 152 pounds a key piece to complete the perfect evening.
“Really good night,” Smith said. “I thought the kids wrestled well, (the) Belmond (dual) we knew it would be closer, kind of similar to us. We lost that match early with JC, we bumped him up to ‘95 and we expect a pin there and we get pinned, so that’s a 12-point swing, but Cole Negen came up big which is so awesome because he’s gotten off to a slow start this year..."
