William “Bill” Duane Rosenwinkle, 93

William “Bill” Duane Rosenwinkle, age 93, of Waukee, Iowa, formerly of Clarksville, Iowa, was born the son of Frederick D. and Grace Janice (Mennenga) Rosenwinkle, on June 3, 1932, in Clarksville, Iowa. Bill received his education and graduated from Clarksville High School in 1950. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1953 during the Korean War. He was stationed in Anchorage, Nome, and Wales, Alaska, until he was honorably discharged in January 1955.
On December 30, 1955, Bill was united in marriage with Audrey Pauline Duffield at the Church of Christ in Bristow, Iowa. The couple made their home in Waverly and later moved to Waterloo. As an adult Bill attended two additional years of education at Gates Business College in accounting. In 1962, the couple moved and settled on a farm north of Clarksville. Bill enjoyed working for the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier, until his retirement in 1998. Through the years Bill also farmed until 2001. He then worked at Bill Doran & Co, wholesale flower distribution company in Waterloo. He delivered flowers to the retail stores all over Iowa and Minnesota.
Bill was a faithful member of the Church of Christ in Clarksville, where he had served as an Elder and Treasurer for many years. For several years he was a member of CEM board of directors. He enjoyed doing carpentry work in his earlier years and later loved being outdoors and driving through the countryside.
Bill had the nick name “Wild Bill” for his love of adventure and excitement. He loved watching NASCAR races and had ridden a few times on the track and went sky diving in his 80’s. He was an avid fan of P-38 Lighting Aircraft and enjoyed seeing steam engines. He had a great sense of humor and was a longtime fan of the Eagles rock band.
Bill went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 9, 2026, at EveryStep Care & Support Services, the Kavanagh House, with Hospice care, in Des Moines, Iowa, where he passed away from heart failure. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Audrey; his parents, Frederick and Grace Rosenwinkle; a brother, Dale Rosenwinkle; one sister-in-law, Delores (Glenn) Siefken; and one brother-in-law, Claude Sabino.Bill is survived by his daughter, Kelli Ann Rosenwinkle of Waukee; one brother, Robert (Louise) Rosenwinkle of McRae, Arkansas; one sister, Roberta (Jim) Knapp of Clarksville; three sisters-in-law, Anita Sabino of Peoria, AZ, Dawn (Gene) Bruhn of Clarksville, and Miriam Marshall of Scottsdale, AZ; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at the Church of Christ in
Clarksville, with Pastor Val Swinton officiating. Pianist was Diane Renning and she accompanied the congregation as they sang “I Don’t Know About Tomorrow”. Special music was “Scars In Heaven”, a recording by Casting Crowns, “Daddy’s Hands” sung by Kelli Rosenwinkle and “I Can Only Imagine”, a recording by Mercy Me. Burial was held at Lynwood Cemetery in Clarksville with Donn Miller, Randy Siefken, Tyler Russell, Elijah Wright, Steve Cruse and Ron Sullivan serving as Casketbearers. Honorary Casketbearers were Luke William Rosenwinkle, Lee Patterson, Jeff Harms, Dan Rosenwinkle, Austin Siemens, Riley Howard, Tom Siefken, Mark Siefken, Keith Ubben, Steve Lundh, Jeff Lundh, Rob Mahar, Justin Lateer, Larry Hoffman, Craig Rosenwinkle and Brian Rosenwinkle. Military rites were conducted by
Clarksville AMVET Post 30.
Visitation was held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, at the Redman Funeral & Cremation Services, Clarksville Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to the family. Online condolences may be left at www.redmanfuneral.com
