SHEFFIELD – Putting pressure on Corn Bowl Conference foe North Butler, West Fork had its lead-off man reach in every single inning to post an eventual 5-1 baseball win over the Bearcats on Friday, June 19.
Three walks, two errors and a base hit started off the six innings for coach Lance Thompson’s Warhawks, scoring on all three lead-off walks and one of the errors.
“Anytime you can get that first batter of each inning on, then you can do so much more,” Thompson said. “Either you can do a hit-and-run, steal, bunt or just let the batter swing away; but getting that pitcher in the stretch and worry about a runner right away, it goes a long ways.”
