Wedeking to serve as Language Arts teacher

“It feels good to be home,” Katie Wedeking said.
     And there’s no one who knows that feeling quite like Clarksville’s head softball coach. But this time she isn’t talking about her team bringing home a run. This year, she will have the bases covered—from serving as softball coach to Language Arts teacher, yearbook, newspaper and junior high girls basketball coach.
     A graduate of Clarksville High School, Wedeking earned her bachelor’s degree in English Secondary Teaching from UNI and substitute taught in Clarksville. For the past two years, she has worked as a high school English teacher and junior high basketball coach at North Tama. But coming home to teach at Clarksville when the position came open seemed natural.
     “I know most of these students and their families, and I like the small-town feel,” Wedeking said. “I’m also kind of involved in the sports and extracurriculars already.”
