Universe of Stories - Spring Reading program concludes

Wednesday, May 22, the Allison Public Library hosted the grand finale of their “Universe of Stories” Spring Reading Program. The Grout Museum’s Science Outreach Program visited the library to present hands-on space-themed activities for the students.
     Outreach Coordinator Sloan Alberhasky, along with assistants Corey Mack and Josephine Rydell, and Allison Library staff worked with students as they rotated through three engaging “space stations.”
     At the first station, students had the opportunity to work with robotic arms reminiscent of the robotic arms used on rovers on Mars. The students used a control pad to move the robotic arms to pick up different objects.
     At the second station, students built “space landers” out of disposable cups and straws for their marshmallow “astronauts.”
