At the Allison council meeting Monday, Mayor James Blockhus said that UnityPoint plans to send a formal letter to the city and patients declaring their intentions to close their Allison clinic as of March 30.
“They did a financial analysis, and we were in the bottom three,” Blockhus said.
The clinic is located at 502 Locust in a building owned by the city.
“After exploring various options over the course of several years, the decision to close the Allison clinic came only after thorough assessment and careful consideration,” a spokesman for Unity Point said in a statement. “It was determined that nearby UnityPoint Clinic locations in Parkersburg and Waverly will continue to offer health care access and services to individuals in Allison and neighboring communities. Furthermore, patients are welcome to continue seeing Montica Foxen at UnityPoint Clinic in Grundy Center.”
