The city of Clarksville voted unanimously to hire Officer Michael Tobin onto the police force at the council meeting Monday evening, effective October 1.
“Any time we can bring in a four-year veteran as a police officer, it’s a big positive for the city,” said Mayor Val Swinton. “He is eminently qualified.”
Tobin replaces Officer Jeff Tiedt, who resigned in July. Chief Barry Mackey, who has worked longer hours to keep the town covered in the interim, looks forward to seeing the police department return to normal with Tobin joining the team.
Tobin comes from serving as a sergeant on the West Union police force, where he worked for four years. Previously he had worked as a loss prevention manager at a large retail store.
