Stirling records win No. 100 with Bearcats

ALLISON – Far from a ho-hum 10-0, six-inning win over Northwood-Kensett, the North Butler softball team honored coach Jeff Stirling with a sign and balloons to commemorate his 100th career victory as head coach of the Bearcats.
It came unexpected to Stirling, who had to prepare his team for another game later that day with Class 1A No. 7 Mason City Newman because of weather postponements.
He went on to notch win No. 101 against the Lady Knights, 10-2, a big feather in his cap despite playing without North Butler’s regular starting third baseman who was busy with Butler County Fair activities during both games on Friday, June 22.
“I didn’t know it was my 100th win (here),” coach Stirling said....
