Iowa State Librarian Michael Scott visited the Allison Public Library on Wednesday, Sept. 4 as part of his regional tour.
Visiting libraries throughout the state gives Scott first-hand knowledge of libraries’ needs as he deals with administrative-type issues and works with state and federal funding through the State Library Agency.
The libraries of Iowa provide a valuable resource for residents.
“The library is available to everyone in the community. Come as you are…” Scott said. “Libraries are unique to the communities they serve.”
Scott pointed to the benefits of the wide variety of programming available for kids, adults and seniors, meeting spaces available to the community, and the safe space provided by the library for kids after school.
