St. Mary Catholic Church in Greene welcomed Father Ralph Davis to the parish this summer following the retirement of Msgr. Walter Brunkan.
“The community has been very, very welcoming, especially considering this is the first change they’ve had in close to 30 years,” Davis said.
In addition to serving at St. Mary in Greene, Davis also serves St. Mary in Roseville and Holy Name Church in Rockford. He holds Mass on Sunday at all three churches and daily mass in Greene Tuesday through Friday.
Every day is different, with phone calls, hospital visits, preparation for events such as the fall festival, religious education classes and church business matters to attend to. Davis visits the Roseville and Rockford parishes once a week outside of the weekend to tend to parish business there.
