Smith joins Senate race

Ruth Smith, an Independent candidate, filed papers with the state to join the U.S. Senate race of six candidates in the 2014 election.

Her Stop the Madness campaign expresses concern with the puppet strings of big money donors that control elected officials. 

“In our current system, both Democrats and Republicans are dependent upon enormous amounts of money to fund their election and re-election campaigns,” Smith said. “The political world clearly understands that the candidate with the most money will most likely win. I want the system to change so that our leaders are more honestly considering the interests of regular people instead of big money contributors.”
