Walk into the Shell Rock Scoop on Cherry Street, and it’ll feel like you’re stepping into a 1950’s ice cream parlor, complete with checkered floors, the delightful smell of waffle cones baking, and the delectable temptation of delicious ice cream.
Jeff and Donna Busch, who own Riverview Café across the street, opened the ice cream shop on January 2 as a fun place for families and teens.
Ice cream comes from Homestead Dairy, a family-owned creamery in Waukon. Eight ice cream flavors, currently including salted caramel, pecan, purple cow (raspberry), mint chocolate chip, vanilla, peanut butter cup, butter brickle, chocolate and strawberry, are available in waffle cones, sugar cones and regular cones. Soft serve ice cream is also available.
Jeff and Donna are currently in search of an authentic soda fountain to add to the ice cream bar, and over the next few months will add sodas, floats, malts, shakes and sundaes. Baked goods such as cookies, brownies and possibly pie will also be offered at the shop soon.
