NORTHWOOD – Ethan Schmidt was just hoping to qualify for state.
The Clarksville junior did more than that, he emerged from the Class 1A state district meet at Northwood as the champion at 6 feet, 2 inches in the high jump, one of only seven jumpers across the state in the class to get past that mark, and emerged as one of the favorites at this week’s meet.
“Very exciting,” Schmidt said, “going to state for the first time. It was crazy, I didn’t know what to think. My parents, they wanted me to do this really bad, so it helps when they are helping me out.”
The full story appears in the May 16 print edition of the Clarksville Star.
