GREENE - Iowa District 27 Sen. Amanda Ragan, Mason City, stopped in Greene last week with the sole purpose of listening to those she represents.

“It’s not about me pontificating or talking about ideas,” she said. “It’s about working with people in the community and seeing what they think about what’s going on in their lives and what they think would be good ways to grow their own community and the state of Iowa.”

She met with a small crowd at the Greene Public Library and outside of introducing a couple of topics, allowed those present to provide comments and ideas. Topics included healthcare, education and how to attract and keep younger residents in the area.

Ragan said the small, intimate meetings allow her to get a firm grasp on communities and what concerns citizens may have on their minds.
