The Benny Gambaiani Public Library has a new staff member, Alicia Phillips. While her first day was June 8, she’s not exactly a new face at the library.
Phillips has been a Shell Rock resident for over seven years, is a frequent patron of the library, and spent time volunteering at the library this May. She also works for the Waverly-Shell Rock School District as a substitute teacher.
“She has been a very good patron of ours. She has a great personality, and knows some of the kids from substitute teaching,” said Library Director Deb Nieman. “It’s helpful to have a good person. … I knew with her teaching skills, she would be good help with kids too.”
Phillips will work part-time at the library over the summer while librarian Nellie Kaus takes the summer off to focus on her work as co-owner of Whistling Thistle Farm.
