At the Kain Schild Memorial Youth Day sponsored by North Butler Pheasants Forever on Saturday, July 13, 44 kids, ages eight to 15, enjoyed kayaking, fishing, archery and target practice with pellet guns. They also attended a firearm safety seminar.
Throughout the morning, the kids rotated through the four activities. Butler County Conservation provided the kayaks. And the kids had good success with fishing at Wilder Pond.
“The fishing action was pretty decent,” said Pheasants Forever Member John Zimmerman.
While there was a slight drizzle for a time, otherwise the weather was decent.
“Jennifer Stevenson of Hick’s Place gave the Kain Schild Safety Speech. It was well-received. You could hear a pen drop,” Zimmerman said.
