North Butler runs to eighth at Newman

MASON CITY – North Butler’s boys’ cross country team was the epitome of a tight pack in finishing eighth out of 11 teams at the Mason City Newman Invitational on Tuesday, Aug. 29.
Coach Kirk Clark’s team, from first to fifth finishers among the Bearcats, were 45-46-47-48-49 for 235 team points, led by Eric Brehmer in 20 minutes, 16.6 seconds.
“I’m impressed with the boys who ran JV and varsity,” Clark said. “There were some guys on JV that I probably should have had on varsity, time-wise, but they just weren’t showing things in practice, so just put them where I thought they deserved to be in this first meet and had a good time out of Devon (Huberg), he’ll be on varsity next time..."
