MASON CITY – Looking to catch the second-ranked team in Class 1A flatfooted in the opening inning, Clarksville may have stunned the perennial power for a moment.
But only for a moment.
The Indians came out and scored three runs against the Knights on three errors and a base hit to take a short-lived 3-0 lead on a team that was the state champions two years ago, state semifinalists last year, and is seemingly a state tournament staple every year in an eventual 15-3, five-inning loss.
“They kicked it around in the beginning and gave us a chance to stay in it, at least,” Clarksville coach Zach Bergman said...
