Local author and historian shares about her work and her story

    “You’re not a writer. Don’t expect to write,” Linda McCann’s seventh grade teacher told her.
    Authoring 34 books in the past 19 years, McCann has proved her teacher wrong.
    Originally from Bremer county, McCann moved to Shell Rock in 1977. She never expected to be a writer; she worked as a registered nurse (RN).
    McCann started studying genealogy after moving to Shell Rock. She was shocked to discover she is a descendent of the founder of Shell Rock, something neither her mother nor grandmother knew.
