Lasting Love: Darwin and Joyce Fecht

Darwin and Joyce Fecht of Allison have been married for 53 years.
     The couple first met at a dance at the Riviera in Janesville. Joyce was there with her four roommates when Darwin spotted her and asked if he could escort her home. She turned him down.
     Sometime later, the girls went picnicking at Bead’s Lake and ran into Darwin and his friends again. After the picnic, they all went to the fair together. Darwin won a teddy bear and gave it to Joyce. By the end of the day, she had agreed to a date.
     Darwin took her to the Hickory House, a steakhouse in Waterloo, for supper, and then they enjoyed a movie. That was the first of many dates to the movies and evenings playing cards with older married friends.
