Joni Ernst visit: Flood mitigation in Butler County

Joni Ernst met with county officials and local mayors at the Butler County Courthouse Monday to discuss flood mitigation issues as part of her 99-county tour.
     Ernst’s message? It’s important that families who were told they would receive follow-up are not forgotten.
     Iowans are self-sufficient. They don’t make big headlines sitting and waiting for FEMA to clean up their towns.
     “We have a ‘fake FEMA’ with community and church groups helping neighbors clean up. We have a redneck Red Cross in Iowa with neighbors helping neighbors. Other states are not that way,” Ernst said.
