CLARKSVILLE – CAL coach Ralph Bell may be batting 1.000 (2-for-2) against Clarksville skipper Zach Bergman, but so far he is 0-1 coaching against the first-year Indians’ head man.
After Clarksville’s baseball team earned a 4-2 Iowa Star Conference victory over the Cadets, a friendly little coaching rivalry that started last year when Bergman was still an assistant for the Indians continued.
Bell, who says he only struck out five times in college, challenged Bergman, who was an all-state pitcher and led the state with 172 strikeouts on the mound only three years ago, to an at-bat.
Something had to give.
However, the game itself belonged to the home team.
