Several Butler County groups gave mutual aid in responding to a house fire at 20671 Quail Ave., Clarksville, which is the home of Rex Ackerman.
Rex Ackerman was the only one home and was out of the house when he called Butler County Dispatch, shortly before 1 a.m. Monday, Oct. 17. He is well-known as a Butler County supervisor and owner of Orly’s Meat Market, Locker and Deli in Clarksville. A passerby on Highway 3 also reported a house fully engulfed, about the same time.
Ackerman had just returned on Saturday evening from a wedding in Illinois, and his wife Tracy stayed for one more day to help her family after the wedding, so she was not home, he said.
They had one cat, named Bear, who “at this time I assume did not make it,” he said.
