Gabe Hoodjer recently completed his Eagle Scout project mapping all of the veteran gravesites at Lynwood Cemetery. Hoodjer gave a presentation explaining how the mapping works at the Lynwood Cemetery program at the Clarksville Library Saturday.
The Google Earth file Hoodjer created, documenting the graves of 290 veterans is available for PCs or mobile devices. A link to the file will soon be available at the City of Clarksville website: www.clarksvilleiowa.com. Each grave is labeled on the cemetery map with name of the veteran and the war the veteran served in. Graves marked in red are from veterans who served in the 20th century, and graves marked in blue are veterans who served in the 19th century, in the Civil War, Mexican War, and even the War of 1812.
Hoodjer started the project in February with the encouragement of city hall and his father, scoutmaster Tom Hoodjer. He completed the project two weeks ago.
