Hometown Entreprenuers: Prairie Rose Fabrics celebrates five years

One day a friend asked Holly Fokkena’s husband what he was going to do with the building attached to his office on Main Street in Clarksville. He jokingly responded, “Knowing Holly, she’ll put a quilt shop in it.”
     When he went fishing for two weeks, Fokkena started running numbers. She was planning to retire after serving as county auditor for 14 years. But she was too young to do nothing. With a background in retail, she thought maybe she could make she could make a quilt shop work. Five years ago, on Memorial Day 2012, Prairie Rose Fabrics opened at 109 N Main Street.
     The shop features bright colors and fun fabrics, all 100% cotton, geared toward crafting and quilting.
