Home décor created from horse shoes is local man Matthew Bohach’s specialty, and he has sold his products through his business Cowboy Creations for the past three years.
“They’re locally made and handcrafted. There’s not a whole lot of that left in this world,” said Bohach. “[My products] are not the plastic throw-away kind of thing. When I build stuff, it should last forever. It’s pretty durable.”
Bohach, of Bristow, started creating décor items as a hobby at least 15 years ago. His friends admired the products and wanted to purchase them, so he started making décor items for his friends, and eventually started attending craft shows. He has eight shows and benefits lined up for this spring, in towns including New Hartford, Allison, Waterloo and Waverly.
“Send me a picture, and I probably can make it. I have a lot of photos on Facebook of the stuff I’ve made, and I do some stuff with wood. It depends what people want done,” said Bohach. “I do quite a bit of custom work for people.”
